The nearest international airport is located in Balice (Kraków-Balice KRK) at a distance of about 40 km from the Royal Castle in Niepołomice (GPS coordinates: 500 2' 3.507" N, 200 13' 2.918" E).
The Organizing Committee arranges a conference bus from Kraków to Niepołomice, on the first day of the conference, Monday, June 3rd. This bus will leave the IFJ PAN (152 Radzikowskiego street) at 11:00 o'clock. A return bus service from Niepołomice to Kraków will be offered on Friday, June 7th. This bus will leave the Royal Castle (2 Zamkowa street) after 14:30. On the 3rd of June you can reach the IFJ PAN from the airport using various bus connections. The best connection is the line 252 and 114. At the airport take bus number 252 (station next to the P1 parking lot) and travel to Jubilat station (Os. Podwawelskie direction). The bus leaves every half an hour starting from about 5 o'clock up to about 23 o'clock every day. The journey should take about half an hour (23 stops). At the Jubilat bus station get off and cross the street to next bus station to change the direction of travel (also Jubilat station). At the Jubilat station take the 114 line (bus leaves every 10 minutes) and travel to Rondo Ofiar Katynia station (Chelmonskiego Petla direction). This should take about 20 minutes (9 stops). At the Rondo Ofiar Katynia station cross the double street to get to the IFJ PAN.
You can also get from the airport to Niepołomice by yourself. At the airport take bus number 252 (station next to the P1 parking lot) and travel to Konopnickiej station (Os. Podwawelskie direction). The bus leaves every half an hour starting from about 5 o'clock up to about 23 o'clock every day. The journey should take about half an hour (24 stops). At the Konopnickiej station get off and wait for bus number 304. The bus leaves every 10 minutes. Take the bus 304 and travel to the Wieliczka Stacja Paliw station (Wieliczka Kampus direction). The journey should take about 20 minutes (6 stops). At the Wieliczka Stacja Paliw station get off and wait for bus number 301. The bus leaves every hour. Take the bus 301 and travel to the Niepolomice Rynek station (Niepolomice Dworzec direction). The journey should take about 30 minutes (15 stops). At the Niepolomice Rynek station (main market square of Niepolomice) get off. The Royal Castle is just 2 minuts walk from the market square (200 meters).
Before you start to travel using city buses and trams be sure to buy bus tickets at the airport station using ticket machine. And after entering the bus or tram, validate your ticket immediately using ticket validator machine (unless you have a time ticket already validated). On some buses and trams you can also buy tickets using ticket machine. Tickets at the ticket machine can be purchased with coins, cash or payment card. You can also use a taxi to reach the hotel. The conventional cost of taxi service from Kraków-Balice Airport to the hotel in the Royal Castle (Niepołomice) is about 130 PLN (or about 30 EUR). However, a taxi ride stationed at the airport (not ordered earlier) may be more expensive.
